Propaganda or misunderstanding or....?

I have no idea if all school children learned Morse or not, but I was =
involved in assisting the resettlement of some Russians during the '70's =
and early '80's and became quite popular with some of them as I was an =
active SWL as well as a ham.

They were delighted to hear their native language spoken as you might =
imagine, and commented that the same sort of propaganda we would hear in =
English was heard in Russian.=20

When showing them how amateur radio worked they were totally amazed that =
I could use and understand Morse. Much explianing was necessary to =
convince them I was not a "government" person.

So much for the "universal" knowlege of Morse.
