[CW] W1AW's thoughts on the ARRL

George,

I think you've taken Tony's comments the wrong way. I don't want to go back
to 1936 in technology - except perhaps for a few hours in my reading, or
breadboarding circuits from that time.

Without a doubt valuable experience exists in the "1936" ways of doing
things - I especially like "link coupling".

I believe Tony's comments were from a personal and corporate integrity point
of view - much like "We the People" question if perhaps the current courts
interpretation of the Constitution is very far off base - because we have
read and we remember what they said. (For example in New England towns, the
"town hall" and the "town church" often occupied the same building - and
even now, in many towns even though they built separate buildings in the
1900s, they have an underground tunnel which connects the two basements.

So much for "separation" of Church and State - of course this was never
meant to be "separation" but it was meant to have freedom of choice.

In a similar way, I believe Tony is saying, look at the core beliefs of the
founders of ARRL - have these been honored, have we been honored, or has
their been a terrible breech in this agreement, with the result that what we
love is in danger?

> With all respect, Tony, today's communications environment is in no way
comparable with that of 1936. For too many years, the ARRL performed as if
it were and many mistakes were made. While I do not wholly approve of their
recent actions, they are at least dealing with the reality of today and no
longer living in the past.
