Fourth digit, third finger.

Most learned counting with the index finger as "one", the second finger as
"two", etc.

Perhaps the oddity of counting the thumb as separate comes about from the
need to unfold it last, and say "five".

I just want to know which one is the 3rd finger  Do we start from left or
right?  Does the thumb count as a finger in this case?
