We also had, in the (now long ago) past a huge number of Novice operators who
filled their portion of ) meters (plus 40 and 15) end to end with signals.
All were new,active and pushing into a whole new hobby, thus enthuesastic.
Most of us also had our older crystal controlled rigs, with crystals for novice
freqs, and stayed around and talked to the Novices. Todays beginners dont go
that route. They buy a Kencomyae rig that gives them more capability than even
most Extras use today. They spread out all over the highway. On top of
this, we have more noises on the bands than back then. True we have more filters,
dsp, etc, but I swear the bands sure sound worse than then.
