Its interesting that this subject has come up as just
the other day I was tuning down through the 80m band
after having just checked into the ONTARS phone
net(Ontario amateur radio service net) on 3755khz. I
was amazed at how quiet and how devoid of sigs the
lower end of 80m was. I think for those within range
(200-250 miles) in the daytime, which I think would
include WNY, parts of PA., Ohio etc. from here in the
Niagara Peninsula, it would be a good daytime
propagation testing service as well. I'm going to try
sending a CQ on 3530 +/- and see who shows up. QTR
will be about 1930Z and I will hang around for at
least a half hour. I'm still amazed at low the QRN is
during the daylight hours on 80/75m!
