[CW] FCC's Attitude toward BPL!

I am not sure what, exactly, we need to do and why.
I saw nothing in Ms. Abernathy's comments that in any way impedes the
amateur radio service.
The FCC is attempting to realistically assess and encourage new wireless and
radio technologies--in order to keep up with the technologies themselves. If
it does not, the US will become the largest technical country with a dodo
system of telecommunications. It is, in my opinion, an enlightened attitude to
pursue and encourage this exploration and adoption.
Wireless and radio nirvana sounds absolutely spectacular to me. Reminds me of
what turned me onto radio in the first place, as a child of 6.
It is impossible to believe that issues will not be found and addressed by
the FCC--and its sister (brother?) organization the NTIA, regarding BPL. Is
there any reason to doubt this? If so, what are these reasons?
In my opinion, letters such as that sent by the ARRL to Ms. Abernathy do not
represent the majority of radio amateurs (they couldn't; 155,000 hams is
hardly a US majority) and, in fact, express biases and extrapolations
unsubstantiated with supporting facts. The fact is that some interference potential exists,
and the fact is that it can be realistically mitigated.
It is also a fact that amateur radio does not exist so that a few thousand
people can typically communicate with single sideband on a specific band at a
specific time. It exists as a service with emergency communication ability and
technological encouragement. These days, I would say it does the former far
better than the latter.
Don't downplay the EC: the most valuable asset ham radio has today is the 2M
repeater system and the very large number of trained hams active there.
Get out of the way of the FCC and let it do its job. In my opinion, they
know what they're doing. They have plenty of comments on BPL and , one should
assume, are addressing them proactively. If YOU BELIEVE THIS IS NOT SO, THEN
PLEASE PRESENT EVIDENCE to that effect.
