The RM number for the FISTS petition is
                    RM-10811
It has to be typed exactly like that:
capital RM hyphen 10811 - no spaces before or inbetween. I was looking for
the petition and it wouldn't come up. I finally figured out that I had a
space in front of the RM-10811 and that's why it couldn't find it. Very
picky system!

It is very simple to file, once you find the place to do it.

The URL is http://gullfoss2.fcc.gov/prod/ecfs/upload_v2.cgi

The proceeding number has to be exactly RM-10811 with a captial RM and the
hyphen. That goes in box 1. Put your name in box 3, and your mailing
address in boxse 7, 8, and 9.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page where it says "Send a brief comment to
the FCC (typed in)" and type in your brief comment. Then click Send Comment
and that will take you to a page that verifies that your comment has been
received.

Comments should be brief and to the point. "I agree with the FISTS petition"
or "I agree with the FISTS petition, except for the part about raising it
back to 12 WPM"....whatever. I chatted with Bill Cross from the FCC and
they are looking for what people support and don't support in the various
petitions so the "pro" points can be bundled into one document. He has to
read through all the comments, so he asked that we keep it to the point.
When someone rambles on without being specific about how it relates to the
petition, he has to make a guess at what you support about the petition and
that might not be what you intended. There will be time for lengthy
comments when the compiled document is put up for public comments later next
year.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE A HAM TO FILE A COMMENT!! Your spouse, kids (over 18,
I assume) and friends at work, neighbors, ANYONE who wants to help can file
a comment. NUMBERS are very important at this stage. We have 30 days to show
them that CODE MATTERS and We are Proud to Be KNOW CODE Hams!

I found it interesting that the ARRL specifically pointed out on their web
page article that the FISTS petition already has 50 comments! Let's knock
their socks off and show them we won't go like lambs to the slaughter. VOTE
and get your friends and family who care about the requirement to vote too.
(I know it's technically a "comment" but it is also a vote to show that KNOW
CODE people are in the MAJORITY)
