Regarding sending CW with a mike, this will be no help to answer the
question about Earhart, but the post reminded me of my first and only
satellite QSOs. I used a Clegg 22'er (an AM 2-meter rig) with a simple
ground plane vertical made with wire on a coax jack, and keyed the
push-to-talk. First QSO was a 3-way on a Russian satellite. All in a minute
during the pass, despite the slow speed necessitated by the manner of
keying!
