A new biography of Samuel F.B. Morse has been published by Knopf Books. 
Lightning Man, by Kenneth Silverman, is a 503 page volume, complete with 
several pages of historic photographs. This is the first major biography on 
Mr. Morse to be released in some time. It covers Morse's entire life from 
1791 to 1872, with detailed narrative describing his life a painter, 
sculptor, photographer and inventor. The Wall Street Journal commented: "Its 
thorough research, measured scholarship and wonderful prose serve to 
illuminate, brilliantly, the Lightning Man's eight decades of struggle, 
inner turmoil and genius. It is not easy to depict - sympatetically yet 
realistically - so flawed and complex a character. And yet Mr. Silverman 
has." The book lists for $35, but can be purchased at significant discount 
through major booksellers such as Barnes and Noble, Borders and Amazon.com.
