Thanks for the update David, I am confused, I have heard from the
news gods that this is the most powerful solar ejection that ever
hit Earth, lesser bursts have destroyed man made satellites in the past,
yet no such problem has been reported, AFAIK and it should be big news
if it has occurred.

   They also said: "the Aurora might be seen as far south as Chicago"
   When I was a pup near Chicago, I saw the Aurora (in the day time) every
third year or so.  (so much for news reports)
