Learn the Dvorak keyboard. It is already installed in all versions of
Windows (at least since Win95), as well as late versions of Macintosh. I
downloaded a tutorial from the net, and it took me about 3 weeks of
practice, 20 minutes a day, to master the keyboard. Within a month or so,
my typing speed far exceeded anything I was ever able to do with the
"standard" keyboard, which was designed to deliberately make it more
difficult to type at high speeds, to avoid jamming the keys on mechanical
typewriters. With Dvorak, 80% of your keystrokes are on the home row.

For more info, do a search for "Dvorak". Yes, you will get a lot of hits
related to the famous music composer, but check out the ones related to the
keyboard.
