Hi Kenny

Welcome to the group and welcome back to CW. You're probably going to hear
this a lot from the guys on this group, but I really suggest that you learn
to copy morse in your head rather that relying on technology. It's terribly
rewarding, and much more effective when there is QRM or QRN or when the
morse is not being sent perfectly. It's also more useful when operating QRP
from a mountain top and anytime the computer isn't around!

I got my license in May 2001 and passed 12 wpm morse in August that year,
but just by using it on air my speed is already up to about 20 or 22 wpm and
I'm hoping to get to 25 before long. And that's without spending time in
front of a computer practising.

You'll find the guys on CW are very patient with new hams - just remember
not to send faster than you can receive, and most guys will adjust their
sending speed to match yours. If it's still too fast, just send "PSE QRS 5"
(which means "please slow down to 5 wpm"). There are also groups like FISTS
(www.fists.org) and MEGS (http://www.geocities.com/gm0rse/) that will
arrange one-on-one practise sessions for you.

Best of luck and hoping to hear you soon (at any speed),
Andrew ZS1AN
