I would think that one of the newer digital modes would
be better than manual CW for a comms center, I find if there is a heavy
traffic load CW is quite slow...
An example would be PSK31, it only requires very low
power and is automatic, you could just type up the
tfc and let it go on the PSK31 circuit, the CW could be used as an orderwire
type of circuit if something needs
to be exchanged between the PSK ops...(if voice is
not possible). The learning curve required for the ops is
not difficult, more people are familiar with computers than
CW operations now (the cw ops have to be very good for the net to be
efficient).
What ever the data mode, computer generated data would be easier than
manual morse manipulation..
Of course if the CPUs failed then its back to the key as
it is the final final end all if all else fails...
