[CW] Morse code test

GA Dave, uranito, es CW list...
I have one question which I never have been able to have
satisfactorily answered. Given the possibility which exists today of a
terrorist action involving nukes, with the accompanying EMP nightmare,
and the high vulnerability of all the "bells and whistles" on the ships
of today, where the prevailing idea seems to be that "satellites are
everything". WHY has nobody come forward with the reply that when all
else goes belly up, it's gonna be hollow state and pounding brass that
is going to be able to save the day. We have abandoned MF/LF, we have
abandoned CW on military circuits, and the pool of us diehards who
actualy ENJOY "the old ways" gets smaller every day, that there is bound
to be one heck of a day of reckoning, when the fat is in the fire and
you have Ships Masters/Captains running in ever decreasing circles on
the bridges of their inoperative "glass houses" desperately flicking
switches with the idea that somehow, all the wonderful technology will
somehow begin to work once again, with absolutely NO idea of how to
come through in, at the very least, the ability to have propulsion and
navigation, and bear in mind I haven't even brought up communications
here, because, frankly, there won't be any.
The demise of the Radio Officer/Radioman has put every single vessel
at risk, military and civilian, by removing the one final safeguard,
backed not only by training and experience, but the traditions, passed
on from generation to generation of "Staying at the key". It disturbs
me greatly that nobody, outside of a few, has considered the scenarios
which may arise, and the disasters which would occur once the silicon
fuses under the EMP. There will be little if no difference between what
will happen if such an attack occurs, and what the conditions were
aboard ships prior to the introduction of radio, and the Radio Officers,
aboard.
Everyone has become so confident in their cell phones, sat phones,
GPS systems, ad infinitum, that they can't conceive of a situation where
their "comfort zone" suddenly turns into a black hole. It's gonna be a
"sorry Charlie", situation, where all the hand wringing and hoping is
gone.. I hope it never comes to that, but in today's world, we shouldn't
take ANYTHING for granted.
ZUT!!!!! es end rant
