my two cents-
I think you've got it, Tony.
I'm a member of ARRL and support the idea and believe in the need for an
organized body to represent Amateur radio. But when such an organization
does not represent the will of the majority of it's members, that's a
problem. When you ask why, we can only think that the ARRL is somewhat like
a union, i.e. it sees it's power coming from the shear size of it's
membership list. Anything that increases the size of the membership
increases the power/survivability of the organization.
I'm only a Tech right now. I'm working hard on the code. I'm really enjoying
what I'm able to do with CW even at this point (6 WPM - 98%) (i know, i know
what am i waiting for- go take my exam!!!)
If they drop the CW requirement, I will be VERY ANNOYED!
