[CW] Interesting (?) Beacon...any ideas?

Jim,
It would be interesting to know if they (SWL'ers) have indeed heard this
station
before or not. I am very familiar with all sorts of number stations and
in particular the one you are referring to on 10.1 mHz. That station
was up this morning as well, and interesting enough, simultaneously
transmitting
with the 10106 station. Huge difference in signals...the 10106 station is
S7 maximum while the station up around 10125 is about 40db over! Huge,
dirty
signal with spurs and clicks all over the place.

It would be difficult to even make an educated guess as to the location of
the
new station, but with some help from other hams and signal reports and
antennas
it would be possible to have some ideas. Right off the cuff, considering
prop
as it is now on 10.1, I would guess it is not far off...perhaps in the
Caribbean
or even in central/western Canada.....just a guess. The station is
obviously
fairly automated, at least a memory keyer with a beacon feature like the AEA
MM-3
MorseMachine.

It would be interesting if you would keep checking around the 1030-1130Z
timeframe
and see if you do eventually hear this station. The frequency I am reading
out is
on a TenTec OMNI 6+ which sometimes differs from some of the Japanese rigs.
It is
close enough if one does some careful monitoring. I haven't timed the full
transmission
but would guess it is 45 seconds or so from start to finish and repeated
every 5 minutes
right on the money. My antenna system consists of an elevated vertical GP
with insulated
elevated radials, a 30 meter dipole and a 180 foot zepp at 70 feet...the
signal was
best on the GP, which suggests it might be more distant (low takeoff angle).

Please check with your SWL friends and see what they might know but you can
assure them
that this is not one of the "number stations".

Thanks for your email..and interest.

Nil hrd on Long Island, NY both days. Vertical, n/s and w/e dipoles...

I don't follow it that much, but isn't that one of the freqs, or close to
the freqs used by one of the notorious numbers station? I have to run or
I'd look it up, but there is a website devoted to swl'ers who follow those
pretty closely and maybe they'd have some info on that station.
