In brief: It's actually an excellent deal. The fee gets you a newsletter,
with stuff from US, Down Under and Britain, and most importantly if you're a
paperchaser - an excellent QSL buro for CONUS use. Sure beats a 74 cent
SASE.
Second, in addition to the frequencies listed by another operator, they also
have calling freqs in the Novice subbands, such as 28158, 7118 and 3708 -
among others - and this is huge in that is aids in spreading everyone out
through the CW bands. Between this, the NTS and QRP freqs, it demonstrates
for naysayers that there is indeed life in CW bands, at least in my neck of
the woods.
Third, there is many of the CW advocates and outspoken supporters in that
group, and that's where I found folks to articulate what I felt to the FCC
and the League. (Alot better than filing "Hey, this SUCKS" as a comment on
the FCC website.) And it still is.
And finally, a place to get a "KNOW CODE" button... Priceless!
