Subject: [CW] 40 meter band
But if the FCC pushes down the SSB sub-band to 7,100 kHz then the foreign
SSBers will go to 7050 kHz - and we will probably still have Canadians on
7030 kHz - and THEY already have 300 kHz to operate on.
Operating on 7030 LSB generates QRM down to 7027 kHz.
Now that is giving the General/Advanced operators only 2 kHz on 40 meters
that is "clear" of international QRM.
Not much breating space for some QSOs.
I wonder if the Canadians have complained about this 7030 LSB net? It
really is much too low. After all they've got 270 kHz above that
frequency to operate.

Here comes a flame. I got my ticket in 1948. I had no way to get on
phone at the time. When I DID come up with a way to do it, I operated
mainly on what is now "75 phone". Even back then, the Canadian operators
carved out their space below ours for their own phone use.. They, our
neighbor nation, have done this I assume before I got my first chance to
observe this inconsiderate unneighborly and rather
cold-reception-if-you-butted-in attitude and procedure. Enough said. I
find it reprehensible, that's all. Over half a century of feeling that way
from cold observation of the FACTS of what the VEs DO, and they cannot
deny they do it. David just described the effects of it above. And that is
but one example.
I made a post of this type some time ago and got a heap of flames. Why?
They DO IT. Americans up here along the border in particular, any of us
within listening range on the band involved, clearly are upset but just
live with the snub. Facts are facts. Some dare not cite them as such.
Failure to express displeasure is being a complete wimp, and I have never
been known for THAT. Those who flame about this post IMO are just plain
hypocrites. It does not apply to all Canadians, obviously. They don't even
have rules on where to operate within the bands any more. I don't KNOW all
Canadians. But I DO know more than I want to about the ones I hear in
their chosen exclusive space. The whole topic seems forbidden. Not in my
book it isn't....
