Wonder if you could build a mike? Guess so, but not in a hurry? HI,
Reminds me of when I was temporarily posted to the embassy in Athens, and the
base station we worked into was hit by lightning. My circuits (two 75 baud
tty landlines) stopped running, from them. After some time, and listening to
the CW guard bands with all the embassy ops trying to call the base and getting
no reply, I called them by phon, with no response except busy signals. Then
called them on a vhf link. They had everything fried, and were not able to
even get their cw keylines to operate. I was asked to bring up my emergency KW
rig and advise all the other stations of the situation and to act as guard op.
I got the rig up quickly, then reached in the drawer for a key. There wasnt
one. All the regular communicators there were non-morse types, and
everything was done by landlines and phone calls. I wound up jacking in a connector
with two bare wires at the other end. And, yes you guessed it. I sent code by
touching the wires together. Not one of my better transmissions, but the
word got out

.
