[CW] Interesting bug

At various web sites I've read:
The Manufacture DENTSU-SEIKI K.K. owned by a Mr.Takatsuka made the
BK-50 Swallow from 1953 - 1964. Then the company name changed to
HI-Mound and production on the BK-100 started about 1968 and is I think
the for runner of the HK-100 in today's market. This one appears to be a
BK-100. The BK-50 & BK-100 can both be seen on my site at
http://www.qsl.n0uf/japan.htm along with a JJ-37 by Soling.

My favorite bug is http://www.qsl.net/n0uf/favorite-bug.htm

Yep, Lafayette got $9.95 for 'em 30 years ago.

Now Marshall Emm gets around a hundred, more or less. It's a HK-100,
nowadays made by Hi-Mound, but back then, I think they were made by an
outfit called Swallow.

I have 2, one is in excellent condx, and the other, well, I was young, and
thank goodness for J-B weld. The paddle has been broken off a coupla times,
I lost all the balls out of the bearing, which I "fixed" by pouring solder
"babbit bearings" in the cups, and the clear cover twisted intoa potato chip
when I left it sitting on the dashboard (yes, it WAS hooked into the
horn...)

The J-B weld fixed the paddle, I found just recently that the ball bearings
in some VCR pinchrollers are the right size (what a job melting out all that
solder!), and instead of buying a new cover (the only spare part available)
I got some model railroad styrene sheet and made a lid with a sort of
rounded top. after looking at it for while, I added some extra bits of
trim, painted it black, and fitted some "handles" made from brass wire.

Thus the "Coffin Bug" was born.

Over the years, my shoddy glue job went to pieces, so I've recently
re-created the coffin top. I'll finish it and put the handles back on just
as soon as the rush is over (maybe before 2030!)

I have one of these; mine has a clear plastic cover over it. I think
these
were distributed by Lafayette Radio years ago.
