[CW] cw story time

Hello Folks,
A few years back, a friend needed a CW mentor to get his license and
dragged me out of a protracted QRT (20+yrs). My cw skills had gotten feeble
(really!), but were good enough to work with a novice, and, naturally, I got
sucked back into CW. I found by chance, an early morning (west coast, usa)
7058 khz cw practice station. I thought that the call was K7HLR (I may be
wrong!!) Whoever this was; they were broadcasting CW "story time"; absolutely
fascinating stories of packet boats plying the Alaska/Canada coastline and
munitions ships exploading in turn of the century N.Scotia harbors. This
totally sucked me in! I was addicted! Before I knew what hit me, I was
copying 30wpm and more. leaning into the earphones to catch the "rest of the
story". I was also losing a lot of sleep.
Do any of you recall this and know what happened to the station? One day
the station was QRT and that was that. This might have been three years ago.
I recall trying to email the email listing in one of the call directories but
got no response. This was the most effective CW practice station, I have ever
heard. I nearly killed myself to augment my speed so I could find out "what
happened next". I would love to know where they got their material..truly
interesting stuff.
thanks much!
