I have much the same problem, as an engineer, I tend to print everything,
and when I try to write longhand it's totally illegible, and I'm not so sure
that it's actually faster, either. My writing petered out at about 18, but
when I took the test, I was able to get enough scrawled down at 20 to pass,
but it was pretty marginal. I can generally copy at 30 or 35 or even
faster, but writing is a problem.
A few years ago, I started operating CW mobile. Guess what, when you're
driving, you can't be writing. I could have the XYL scribble a few notes,
and that's what I did. Pretty soon, head copy was relatively easy, and when
I'm in the shack, I simply scribble a few notes to remind me of what he
said.
