Hi, Guys--
>>The draft new recommendation proposes using the
letters A and C run together (.--.-.) to represent the @ symbol<<
Cripes! A symbol for a symbol! And if you write AC with a bar over it, you
have a symbol for a symbol for a symbol! AT(overscored)=@=AT. Yes, @ sign
in an e-email address literally means "AT" and the symbol is used in case the
letters "at" are present elsewhere in the user id or domain name. USER AT
DOMAIN is easier to send in Morse and less likely to cause confusion.
The only justification for having a special symbol for @ is if computers are
going to be involved, but I think it would be easier to program a computer to
send space AT space when it sees @, than to dream up a pair of letters to
represent a symbol that represents a pair of letters!
What next, HTML codes?
