Dear GACW and Reflector members, Martin send us this information from DTC:
Morse Code Exams Option Retained for Coming Years in DL
(DTC 27/08/2003)
The German telecommunications authority is to retain the possibility to pass
an official Morse code examinations for "some years to come".
While in future Morse code exams to access the HF bands may / will not be
required as such, anyone who either needs or wants official proof of his /
her Morse code capabilities will then be given the benefit of taking an
official examination in Morse code for at least some time to come.
This information has been forwarded in an official letter addressed to DTC
dated August 8, 2003, by the Ministry in charge.
However, no information has been given on how the exact procedures will be
in future though.
The Ministry responded to DTC proposals, thus following our ideas and
reasons given regarding that matter.
DTC now will make far more detailed proposals regarding future Morse code
exams procedures, thus continuing post-WRC 2003 cooperation with the
Ministry regarding amateur radio and Morse code.
