Do all the digital modes in use (I have lost count of them)
have a requirement to ID in something other than the mode in which they are
operating....
I would think this should be CW such as a beacon or repeater IDs..
You could be operating on a frequency and be QRM'd
by a PSK-31, RTTY, etc etc... and no one would know
who it was unless all the other stations involved could work all modes, most
all HF rigs can receive CW, just by turning the mode switch. Of course the
operator would have to have basic CW at least to ID the offending station.
Even if you do have a computer interface it is sometimes
difficult to match the different modes quickly to ID
transmitting stations...seems to be a big void in the regulations...or maybe
its already in the regs???
