I would urge everyone to STAY a member of the ARRL. It has gotten this way
through apathy. Does anyone really know where the two candidates stand in a
Director's or Sec. Manager's election?
We need to get informed. Identify the Directors & Sec. Managers that are
pro-CW and pro-Technical Exams, and pro-NTS, and pro-diversity of modes, and
actually have a CLUE about doing outreach (beyond the Big Project rhetoric -
really doing it).
Can we identify our own candidates from among sympathetic Section Managers &
others? You bet we can. But only if we talk about them out loud, in
public, to each other.
Frustrated that you have no voice? Me too, sometimes. But stay in the only
organization where we could HAVE voice. We just have to change our ways -
get wiser - start following our ARRL elected officials the way that the the
"League of Women Voters" follows political candidates. Summarize their
views, share that with each other. And put some pressure behind out voices.
They don't listen to us? Then out they go!
If we walk out of the room , the conversation will go on without us - and
that would really be bad for us!
