I am being confused by parts of this thread.
banned and retired not to be used, both sound
about the same to me.

I looked at the NO CODE INTERNATIONAL web site and
it looks like these folks have an opinion and most of
the things I have read seem like a normal opinion except:
<
2. Manual radiotelegraphy communications has been superceded
by more modern, reliable, accurate, faster and efficient
     means of communication.
( superceded is actually spelled superseded )
 >
This is wrong, more EASY is closer to the truth.
<

Their focus is totally upon the REQUIREMENT to learn Morse code.
I understand this, I found it impossible to learn Morse code by my self.
There is no mention of how much fun it is once you have learned it.
(I assume this is because none of THEM have learned Morse code)
I don't see why anyone that has learned Morse code would wish to
belong to their origination.

There is no indication about Morse code being GOOD for HAM Radio
or emergency communications. Sol (our sun) could eject an unusual
amount of matter while it is aimed at Earth and destroy every man
made satellite and all other communication for weeks. Without Morse
code (and HAMS with big amplifiers, normally used only for SSB)
there could be NO communications on earth.
Remember our recorded history of such events goes back less than
100 years, we have no idea how often this been occurred in the past.
(a few earth orbiting satellites have been destroyed by sol's eruptions)

> The ONLY one who is saying that code has been banned is NCI. Read the
> message, MARS says that they've retired the use of morse.
