Thats sad. Missing all the real fun of ham radio. Reminds me of the day I happened to be at the embassy in Athens, and our relay site was hit by lightening and knocked off the air. I brought up my 1 kw transmitter in cw to stand by and let the rest of the world know about the problem, and then couldnt find a cw key. ( I was there on temporary duty- from the base station). There were no cw ops at the embassy on a regular basis. I wound up using a pair of wires, one in each hand, touching them together to send code and let the network know to standby.
