"ant ?"...
I totally agree. Even if you are not interested in a ragchew, one of the
fundamental exchanges in an amateur radio contact is to describe the antenna
and rig, or at least approximate tx power. Without even that basic info, to
me the QSO is a total waste of time.
This is typical of almost all CW DX QSO's I have had in recent years. About
the only DX I attempt anymore is on 10M AM phone on 29.0-29.2. I have had
some nice, even hour-long chats with Europeans and Pacific stations there.
I my younger days I spent considerable time abroad, and it is interesting to
talk to people in regions of the world where I have lived or visited.
About the only kind of contact I attempt on CW is non-contest, non-DX chats
within a range of a few hundred miles. Rubber-stamp QSO's are of no
interest to me whatever. The contest QSO's with univeral 599 reports have
become downright ridiculous.
I suspect that this has, unfortunately, contributed to the widely discussed
drop off in interest in CW in recent years.
