[CW] Question Regarding Bunnell Sideswiper

I have noticed in the Bunnell Catalog seen on
various webpages, the
picture of the Double Speed Key and down in the ad
there is a list where
it identifies:

Style W Key..............
Portable Base Only ...............
Wedge and Cord ...................

My question is, what is meant by Portable Base?

Was this key sold with a base (other than the brass
oval base on which
the key itself is mounted)?
