I always carry a double lever paddle with a built in keyer with
two batteries and cables that are not removable (to avoid such
frustrations) with me 100% of the time.
I CAN use a single lever paddle, but it becomes frustrating
quickly, having to consciously work to use it.
I should think a thin rubber eraser could be rubber banded between
the two paddles and allowed to protrude enough for a single paddle
operator to get by. (or a thin piece of wood, like floor tile material?)
