Andrew,
Just my thoughts:
One obvious answer, and probably one you are not looking for,
is practice, practice, practice.
In my own case, I finally reached a point where I could simply
not send faster while maintaining some degree of accuracy. I
topped out around 45 wpm or so on the paddle but can/could copy
55 or a bit better. My solution to working two way CW above
the speed I could send comfortably on the paddle was to use
a (ugh) keyboard. I have for years belonged to the CFO (not to
be confused with the FOC)club which has some of the best CW operators
one would ever want to meet. Many of them QSO at
60+ wpm and can be found doing so on 40 meters everyday. My
only problem with using the keyboard was I tired quickly of
getting "the keyboard dump" from others. That is where they
have stored every conceivable tidbit of information in memory
and felt obligated to "dump" this stuff during every QSO. The
other problem with keyboard operation is the natural tendency
to fully spell everyword you are sending as opposed to using
the typical abbreviations when sending morse manually.
I don't know your age nor your physical abilities, but it
might just be that you have reached "the wall" at least
for the moment. However I would suspect more and more
practice, where you are pushing your ability a bit just
might produce fruit.
Good luck...sorry for rambling but felt I needed to explain
where I was coming from.
Good luck...73
