  Hello Everyone,
I was nice to see everyone again at the last meeting.
As there was interest expressed, I thought I would pass this notice
along for anyone interested in tuning up their CW ears for the Sweepstakes.
The NCCC weekly Net will be doing this every Thursday nite as explained
below, up till the contest in November.

Last week we started at 10 wpm, this week is a little faster, but if you
are having trouble copying the cqing station's call at that speed, send
him a QRS and he will slow down. Everyone has agreed to answer calls
from others at the speed sent by the caller. So, if you call a station,
that is sending at 13 wpm, at 5 wpm, he will slow down to approx that speed.
The activity will be just like the SS contest with the same exchange and
we have decided to allow everyone to make duplicate contacts to get more
practice, so it is ok to work stations more than once.

The SS exchange is: SER No Precedent Callsign Year
 ARRL Section
The precedent is a letter : "A" for low power, "B" for High power, etc
see ARRL rules
The Year is the Last 2 digits of the year you were first licensed.

So, for my first contact low power I would send: 1 A K7NV 79 NV

This is a lot of fun and good practice for learning logging programs etc.

Hope to hear some of you on in the next couple of months,.

73, Kurt, K7NV
P.S. There will be another mini contest later tonight for a warmup to
the NA Sprint Contest this Sat Nite. The exchange is Name & State. Most
folks will be going at the near the speed of light, but some may enjoy
listening in.

For tomorrow night (Thursday, Sept 4th):

Following our great success of last week:
Mini SS-CW Practice Week II. [both a CW Practice *and* SSCW simulation].

Time: 2030-2055 PDST (0330-0355Z Fri)
Freq:
    -- 80 M 3600-3625 (up if QRM)
    -- 40 M 7100-7120 (BBC on 7120)

Speed: 13-15 wpm suggested; but match speed of station calling you.
Recommended power: 150w or less. We agreed to keep the general speed low for
this week. Ok to work dupes. Obj is to keep activity going.

[Note: for those who may have missed last week, the Thursday night CW session is
evolving rapidly to a full-scale simulated Sweepstakes. We're keeping the CW
speed a little low this week because of commitments to newcomers, but it's
fairly clear we'll rapidly go to higher speed, making this an excellent
opportunity to test s/w, antennas, SO2R etc. well before Nov]

Please QSY to the 3853 Net afterward, where an additional topic will be NCJ CW
Sprint; we'll conduct a mini-Sprint during the 3853 net. Mini sprint will start
promptly at 2120 for 15 minutes, then we'll re-convene on 3853 at 2135. Let's
use the CW practice frequencies for the mini-sprint [3600-3625 and 7100-7120].

Note: We'll schecule a 2nd practice Sprint on Friday, probably 2000-2015 PDST
(i.e. 0300-0315Z) with announcement on CQ-Contest Reflector.

Note: N6ZFO may be late tomorrow due to HS open house, so proceed without me,
both for CW practice and 3853 net.

73 Bill N6ZFO
