Special Weather Statement
239 PM PST Thu Oct 30 2003
....cold and unsettled weather expected to continue...
A cold low pressure system will remain anchored over much of the west
through this weekend and early next week. Temperatures will continue
well below normal with daytime readings not getting out of the 30s
and 40s in most cases. In addition...the airmass will remain
unsettled with scattered snow showers expected from time to time.
A disturbance will move out of California and into Nevada late Friday
and early Saturday morning. As it passes...snowfall will become a bit
better organized over the Sierra of Mono County where 1 to 3 inches
of snow may occur. Another stronger system will approach the Sierra
late Sunday into Monday for another chance of accumulating snow.
Motorists...especially those traveling into the mountains...should
monitor the latest weather conditions and be prepared for winter
travel.
