Greetings to all - a few announcements of interest:

1.  Amateur radio licensing classes are now being offered in Reno!
Classes for those interested in obtaining their Technician class license
begin on Tuesday evening, October 14, and continue each Tuesday evening
through December 16.  For more information, go to

2.  Scouts Jamboree on the Air:  Judi Robins, KD7GZR, is assembling a
group to work with scouts in the Reno area enabling them to participate
in the annual Jamboree on the Air, an annual event linking scouts across
the country and around the world via amateur radio.  The event takes
place Saturday and Sunday, October 18 and 19.  The Reno area scouts will
be having a weekend campout at Pyramid Lake - needed are hams to bring
out, set up, and help operate radio equipment to get them on the air.
This is probably the best opportunity of the year to present amateur
radio to young people in an enjoyable way and get them interested in
becoming hams.  YOUR HELP IS NEEDED!  If you can be available to assist
