Special Weather Statement
305 am PST Fri Nov 7 2003

...Snow in the Sierra Saturday night...

An area of low pressure over the Pacific will move onshore Saturday
afternoon.  Rain and snow will begin along the Sierra crest late
Saturday afternoon with snow levels between 5500 and 6500 feet.
Rain and snow will push eastward into the Reno-Carson City area by
Saturday night.

Snow accumulations of 5 to 10 inches above 6500 feet and 3 to 6
inches below 6500 feet are possible in the Lake Tahoe basin by
Sunday morning.  Over eastern Sierra...eastern Plumas and western
Lassen counties snow amounts of 5 to 10 inches above 6000 feet and 3
to 6 inches below 6000 feet are possible.

If you plan to travel through the Sierra this weekend...prepare for
difficult winter weather driving conditions.  Travelers and
residents are urged to monitor forecasts and additional statements
from the National Weather Service on this developing situation.
