This coming Monday evening at 6:30 p.m., the Douglas County Amateur Radio
Team (DCART) will hold its 2003 kick-off meeting. DCART has been chartered
by the Douglas County Emergency Management Department as the sole
coordinator of all amateur radio support by both ARES and RACES for Douglas
County in times of emergency and disaster.

The purpose of this coming training meeting will be to explain away the
confusion of exactly who is responsible for what during real
emergencies. What is the role of ARES, RACES, DCART, local radio clubs,
the Red Cross, Weather Service, Salvation Army and the many other disaster
service groups that would come to the aid of Douglas County during a disaster?

To help explain these many differences, we will have two special guest
speakers:

Roger Lamoni from the Reno Office of the National Weather Service
Jim Utterback from the Sierra Chapter of the American Red Cross

In addition, Nevada Section Manager Dick Flanagan W6OLD, Section Emergency
Coordinator Dick Creley KJ7UK, and Douglas County Emergency Coordinator
Dale Anderson KV7S will be available to answer questions.

The meeting will be held at the Sierra Front Interagency Fire Dispatch
Center at the Minden/Tahoe Airport. A map can be found on-line at

Please plan to join us.
