[CVRC] CVRC Meeting Reminder

Tomorrow morning, February 22th, at 10:00 a.m. is the first Carson Valley
Radio Club meeting for 2003.

It will be held at the Hilltop Community Church at the south end of Carson
City.  Directions and a map can be found at http://www.cvrc.net/meetings.html

This will be our annual Kickoff meeting where we will discuss the coming
year's events and present awards for outstanding achievements.

One of the important items on the agenda will be a report by Paul Cavnar
NN7B, the Nevada ARRL Northern District Emergency Coordinator, on the
special emergency communications symposium EMCOMMWEST 2003 that will be
held in Reno on May 31st. Paul will also report on the current status of
Northern Nevada ARES.

I will make a short presentation on my first fifty-three days as ARRL
Nevada Section Manager, along with some of the latest information on what
the ARRL is doing for amateur radio.  I will also bring along a copy of
the ARRL's latest promotional video, an outstanding six-minute presentation
narrated by Walter Cronkite.

We will be announcing our special ARRL membership half-price "sale" for new
ARRL members: only $20 for a regular membership (regularly $39) and $15 for
seniors (regularly $34).  This is a special program for CVRC members only
and to the best of my knowledge is not available anywhere else.

In addition to these presentations....

Dick Creley KJ7UK will present a report on Nevada Section ARES;
Dale Anderson KV7S will report on Douglas County ARES;
Melissa Flanagan KK7AA will report on our Field Day preparations;
Dale Anderson KV7S will report on our repeaters and VE sessions;
and we will all discuss our upcoming General Class upgrade class.

Finally, we will be discussing next month's special Antenna Class hosted
by our own Norm Pedersen KB6KQ and our plans for this year's picnics and
outdoor activities.

All in all, it should be an interesting meeting and a chance to see good
friends and make new ones.
