245 PM PDT Sat Aug 2 2003

...Weak tornado reported north of Verdi...

An off duty meteorologist reported a very weak tornado about 2 miles
north of Verdi Nevada from 1230 to 1232 PM. This weak
tornado...classified as an F0...occurred on the ridge between
Peavine Mountain and the Verdi Range. No damage or injuries were
reported in this remote location.

Due to the very moist and unstable air over the area...showers and
thunderstorms will be possible for the rest of the day.  Remember
that all thunderstorms produce deadly lightning and other hazards.
Its always best to seek shelter in a building when thunderstorms are
near.
