[CVRC] Flood Warning for Carson City, NV

Flood Warning
518 PM PDT Fri Aug 1 2003

The National Weather Service has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
   southwestern Storey County in western Nevada
   south central Washoe County in western Nevada
   this includes the city of Reno

* until 600 PM PDT

* at 510 PM PDT...the Nevada Highway patrol reported very heavy rain
   in the Geiger grade area...about 8 miles south of Lockwood...or
   about 6 miles north of Virginia City. The very heavy rain
   was moving northwest at 15 mph.

* The thunderstorm with excessive rainfall will be moving into the
Reno-spraks area during the next 45 minutes.

Excessive runoff from this storm will cause flash flooding of creeks
and streams...roads and roadside culverts. The heavy rains could also
trigger rock and mudslides in steep terrain.

A Flash Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring.
Do not attempt to cross swiftly flowing waters or waters of unknown
depth by foot or by automobile. If your vehicle stalls...abandon it
immediately and seek higher ground.

To report damaging weather have the nearest law enforcement agency
relay your report to the National Weather Service forecast office.
