1. The SNARS monthly breakfast will be this Saturday, April 5. Time and
place are the same - Denny's Restaurant in Sparks near I-80 and
McCarran. Director Fred Karkalik will be making a presentation regarding a
possible club project to build and maintain several portable packet
stations. All interested are welcome to attend.

2. The SNARS 35th Anniversary Picnic is just over a week away! This event
will be held on Saturday, April 12 at Gator Swamp Park in Spanish Springs,
located at the end of Egyptian Drive (second left off of Pyramid Lake
Highway after you've passed the Albertson's shopping center). We will be
operating a special event station at the park from 10 A.M. until 5
P.M. Please RSVP to me if you plan to attend - I have heard several people
talking about attending on the radio but have received only 9 confirmations
so far - and, if we only bring enough hot dogs and hamburgers for 9 people
we won't be able to feed the rest of you! So please - do let us know if
you plan to attend. We will be buying food late next week and would
therefore like to know by Wednesday, April 9 if you definitely plan to
attend. We will try to build in enough extra to make sure we have food for
last-minute drop-ins, but again that will depend heavily on having an
accurate count of those who are planning to be there. As a reminder, we
ask that attendees bring potluck items as follows:
If your last name begins with A-G, please bring drinks (sodas, juice,
water, etc.)
If your last name begins with H-M, please bring a salad or side dish
If your last name begins with N-Z, please bring a dessert
For operation of the special event station, we are in need of the following
items:
Shelter (a portable carport would be ideal)
	Small Generator
	HF transceiver
Also, help will be needed with the following items:
	Set-up
	Radio operation
	Cooking
	Clean-up
SNARS members who will be coming are asked to please volunteer by bringing
any items on the needed list that they may have and/or to volunteer to help
with the aforementioned task. As a reminder, this event is open to all who
are interested in joining us regardless of club affiliation. Please plan
to attend and to help out in making this event a successful celebration of
ham radio!

3. We could still use some addtional operators to assist with
communications for the SCCA Reno Club Rally to be held this Saturday, April
5 and Sunday, April 6 in the Fernley area. Saturday assignments are all
day, approximately 8 hours, with dinner provided for all workers after the
race. Sunday assignements are half day, approximately 4 hours, with lunch
provided after the race. Volunteers need to be at the raceway just south
of Fernley off of U.S. Highway 95 by 8:30 A.M. on Saturday and by 8:00 A.M.
on Sunday. If you are interested in participating in this fun public
service opportunity, please contact me as soon as possible and let me know
that you are available.

73 to all,
Matt, N7TOD
