Saturday, November 9th, is the date for the 2002 Nevada Simulated Emergency
Test. All amateur radio operators are invited to take part. The SET will
start at 0830 local time and last approximately two hours. Initial
check-ins will be made on 146.460 MHz simplex, with additional check-ins
made on the 147.240+ and 147.270+ repeaters. Check-ins will be made to a
directed net. N6YMA will be acting as VHF NCS. Local VHF check-ins will
be relayed via HF to the Nevada NCS in Elko. W6OLD, Dick, will be acting
as the Douglas County HF liaison. The primary HF frequency will be 7280
kHz. The backup HF frequency will be 3965 kHz.
The scenario for the SET is a major weather event, with normal
communications between Reno and Las Vegas out of service. Because the
National Weather Service is forecasting an actual storm for the period
Thursday through Saturday, we will NOT be simulating weather
conditions. Local amateur radio stations are urged to submit true and
accurate weather reports that can be submitted to the Reno National Weather
Service office. Additional details for the simulation can be obtained by
contacting Bob Evans, N6YMA, by phone at 775-265-4696, by VHF on 147.330+
or by e-mail at [email protected]
Once again, Saturday, November 9th, is the date for the 2002 Nevada
Simulated Emergency Test. All amateur radio operators are invited to take
part. Test details are posted on the CVRC web site at http://www.cvrc.net.
