I am very excited and pleased to announce the following:

Through the cooperative efforts of NNARS, the "Our Gang" radio group, and
our friends at the VA, a VE Session will be held on Field Day Saturday. The
session will take place from approximately 8:00 in the morning until around
10, ending prior to the start of the Field Day event. The location for this
session will be the VA Medical Center at 1000 Locust Street in Reno,
Classroom MG-10.

Subsequent to this exam session, the VA Radio Station will be opened and
operated as a Class 1D Field Day Station for the remainder of the day. This
will give the examinees, other members of "Our Gang", and other interested
amateurs a place to drop in, enjoy the excitement of the event, experience
ham radio, and get excited about the hobby! Remember, due to security
restrictions only NNARS members pre-registered to participate will be
allowed on the Air Guard Base where our main event will be located.
Operation of the VA Station will provide a place for any late comers not
registered to work the Air Guard station a place where they can still go
and spend some time participating in the event.

If you are seeking to upgrade or know potential new hams seeking an exam
session, sharpen your pencils and prepare for this session! Anyone
interested in taking an exam on June 22 can RSVP to me and I will pass the
word along to the VE Team conducting the exam.

This is the beginning of some new endeavors coming to the local amateur
community through the teaming of NNARS and "Our Gang". I am looking forward
to working with the hams in this group; our mutual support for each other
promises to be equally beneficial for the local ARES/RACES programs as well
as "Our Gang's" efforts to "get back to the basics" of ham radio (League
members: see the first letter in the Correspondence column in the latest
QST). Look for more details on upcoming events/classes to be forthcoming.

73 to all,
