Tomorrow morning, Saturday, February 16th, at 10:00 a.m. is the first
Carson Valley Radio Club meeting for 2002.
It will be held at the Hilltop Community Church at the south end of Carson
City. Directions and a map can be found at http://www.cvrc.net/meetings.html
This will be our annual Kickoff meeting where we will discuss the coming
year's events and present awards for outstanding achievements during 2001.
One of the most important items on the agenda will be a report by Joe Turek
AB7TJ on the current status of the Douglas County Planning Commission
proposal to change amateur radio tower requirements in Douglas County. I
will be assisting Joe as we describe the changes that are being proposed.
We will also have Paul Cavnar NN7B, the Nevada Section Emergency
Coordinator who will make a presentation on the amateur radio
communications network in place at the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics.
In addition to Paul's presentation....
Hal Moore N7CCN will discuss upcoming HF/VHF net training
Dale Anderson KV7S will discuss our repeaters and VE sessions
Dick Flanagan W6OLD will discuss our upcoming Extra Class upgrade class
Clint Hancock KD6H will discuss our equipment loan and sale program and
will even have some equipment with him that we are preparing to make
available for sale to the membership. Rumor has it Clint will also be
bringing some goodies for a Silent Auction.
Finally, we will be discussing next month's special Antenna Class hosted by
our own Norm Pedersen KB6KQ and our plans for this year's picnics and
outdoor activities.
All in all, it should be an interesting meeting and a chance to see good
friends and make new ones.
I'm looking forward to seeing everyone there!
73, Dick
