Discussion: an upper level low pressure system will move into western
Nevada today creating an unstable atmosphere. Scattered thunderstorms
are expected to develop early this afternoon over extreme northeastern
California and western Nevada. Some rainfall will occur with the storms.
However...enough dry lightning strikes are expected on the periphery
of the storms to warrant a red flag warning. Thunderstorms will decrease
this evening as the low moves toward the northeast and we lose daytime
heating. Strong gusty winds of 30-40 mph should be expected with
thunderstorms.
Fire crews and officials in the Waring area should expect hazardous fire
weather conditions through this evening.
