I almost made it with 83 sections, missed "NT" northwest territory ie 
"Yukon"
May have gotton NT by staying up real late, but my limit is around 0300z.
As usual, I worked 100% "search & pounce" It's more relaxing !

ARRL Sweepstakes CW
30 hour event - W4PM 9  hours
Making a "sweep" in sweepstakes involves working all 84 sections. I did not do as well as "W" working only 82 sections.  Both NT and NL eluded me. I saw both spotted but never heard them. Last sections worked were AL and AK.  "W" dusted my britches while I was trying to work AL1G.  I never got that station but I easliy worked KL7SB a bit later - go figure!
While "W" likes S&P I, taking a page from W4MYA's book, like to "run'em".  Of the 365 Q's 251 were from the runs on 40 and 20.  Most of my time was spend during daylight hours. I just worked a few Saturday at the begining of the contest and skipped Saturday night.  I hit the bands on Sunday before quitting early to take Judy out to dinner.

Dear amateur radio friends



It is with sadness, but also gratitude and pride, I have to let you know my
father John ON4UN, has become silent key.



John's health has steadily deteriorated throughout the year, but in the last
few weeks he was home with us where he peacefully passed away yesterday
November 9.



Ham Radio, and especially Low Band DX-ing, were my father's lifelong passion
and always had a strong presence in our house. Sometimes literally, when
many of you paid us a visit or a group of DX'ers came over for a weekend of
contesting. At other times in the background, when my dad was working on a
project or experimenting with new equipment or antennas.



Though I don't have a call-sign, I very much feel part of the big radio
family and always will. I am very proud of everything my father has
accomplished together with you, and I am grateful to the many of you who
have given him so much joy over the years. We will miss him dearly, but we
take comfort looking back on the beautiful life he lived as a member of the
wonderful Ham Radio community.



We are planning a digital farewell ceremony on Saturday Nov 21st and will
keep you updated on practicalities.

I bought a little Henry USA Survival Rifle AR-7.  I've never bought or even shot any type of firearm in my life (other than BB guns).  I was amazed at how hard it is these days to find any supplier who has many guns or much ammo in stock.  I finally, after much searcing, found the rifle at Cabela's in Short Pump but had to search the internet for .22LR ammo.  No one locally has any in stock!  I'll join Greentop's shooting range and see if I can learn to put some .22 rounds near the center of the target. I have no interest in hunting - just a little plinking and  target shooting.

Very good! I'm sure you'll enjoy plinking very much. I suggest you get
a few lessons regarding safety & handling prior to going with live
ammo. I'd be happy to provide such a service here at Vinita where I

In this one you could only work OM and OK stations.?
Went to the river Saturday afternoon so little time to play contest.
1:29 BIC time yielded 60 QSO's on 40 and 20 for 9,000 points.? All S&P? no luck CQing.Much better propagation on 40 than 20.? I need a beam on 20!

I spent 30 hours and 50 minutes in the chair and made 1,215? Q's for 1,395,282 points.? 15 meters was my money band with 387 Q's made there.? 10 was a disapointment with no strong opening to EU so I only made 45 Q's there, which actually was 10 better than I did on 160!
I noticed W's wire plays better than mine ALL the time.? He always gets them before I do - BUT? just how many more dB does he have with his amp versus mine?? It's mainly the wire though (Carolina Windoms with their vertical radiating sections do work well!)?
