Can I get commitments from others to get on and make at least 100 contacts for the club.? Please let me know.? We may not win the gavel but we can let the contest community that we're not dead yet! ? I've been thinking about getting a 6 band Hex Beam. I know I could mount such a small and light antenna on a push up mast BUT that requires a lot of guys to stay up.? I don't have a place to have that in my yard.? So perhaps a self supporting HBX or HDBX 40'? tower might fill the bill.? However, while I can build the antenna I don't do tower work and install antennas on top of them! ? I would need someone to contract to do that.? Any suggestions?? E-mail or phone call would be appreciated if you have some info for me.

Ronnie and others,I would like to activate our club call W4MYA in the referenced contest.? It will not be a big effort but hopefully I will be able to make a few hundred contacts.? Anyone who wants to head up a big effort can have first "dibs" on the call but if none I want to use it here.?

Please keep in mind W4DR is? volunteering his station for some guest ops.? Give that some serious thought.? From that fine station a couple of folks could make more contacts in a few hours that I can make here in an entire day on the radio.? Eight hours total on 20, 40, 80 & 160 from W4DR could yield 600 to 800 contacts!
Please let me know if any of you are operating SSB. ?

I decided I needed (wanted) a large wattmeter with 500W center scale (full scale is 20, 200 or 2KW). The only one I could find that met my requirements was the MFJ-868B "Giant True Peak-Reading SWR/Wattmeter".    It's advertised as the world's largest meter.   All I can say is I've never seen a bigger meter.  Boy is it a beast.  The meter face is 6" x 4 3/8" or 15.24 x 11.1125 cm. The cabinet of course is even bigger. It's almost as big as my little ALS-600. If you want a meter you can see even with your glasses off this may be the one if you have room for it.  Best price I could find was at R&L Electronics.  Even so it was a bit pricey but then so is everything else these days!

This, of course, is one of those "who really needs it" type of things but it looks real impressive sitting on top of the amp.

I am glad Puck is not the only one who sees need rather than want in our
amazing hobby. At Hamcation after visiting several vendors I fulfilled my
need  for and acquired a Heil Proset (headset with HC6 element) with a
phase reversal switch. And I also purchased the SDRplay (RSP1A) radio which
allowed me to spend a week getting it going with SDRuno software and
interfacing it with the FTDX3000, DXLabs and N1MM+ so everything is
synced.It will even sync with WXJT-X. How could I have gotten along without
a panadapter and software that controls everything. I need to figure how
how get it to create sunspots.
