Testing the mailman to see if it will allow pictures through.  Hope it
passes them.

 

Here is my new rope launcher.  It's an arborist sling shot used to launch up
to 16oz weights tied to 1mm slick dacron.  If pulled back far enough can
clear 100ft with a 12oz weight.

 

I used it to put up MYA's old 3 element Telrex 10m beam for the contest.
This is not up all the way in this pic.  Who needs a tower?

Sorry I didn't make the meeting but tough for me to do Zoom on a poor 
1mb connection here. I will be active this weekend on ARRL 160 for CVCC. 
Unsure if I'll to high or low power. Going try to get down some radials 
under my Inverted L tomorrow. I have beverages for E/W/S/NE that seems 
to be working.

I turned on my amp Saturday before the contest and the HV Board decided 
it was time to blow.? Spark, Smoke the whole works. :(
The Inverted L performed well Friday night and running legal power was a 
lot of fun. Worked all states except KL7/KH6/NV.

Started late on Friday and then rain, which raised the noise level on the HV
power lines and detuned the antenna.  Was constantly having to punch the
tuner to retune.  Saturday night was a lot better but could hear very little
west coast here.  Was hoping for a  Sunday morning grey line to the west
coast but that didn't help much either. No SA, and only CT9 for DX. .  Noise
floor just too high.  

All S&P, probably only missed around 20 that I could hear well enough to
copy that couldn't hear me.  Worked WA4PGM, W4PM, N3UA, W4MYA, and N4HB.
Only heard W once calling someone.   Posted to 3830.

I find it impossible to post any sort of tabulated data on this reflector without getting the format all screwed up!? Also you cannot attach any sort of file to a message.?  Not sure what you want to control.? N1MM+ does support the FT-1000.? Check FT-1000 manual for proper serial port connection from rig to computer. Most computers now have no serial ports and need a serial to USB adaptor.? ?If you want to Key the rig for CW the very best way is to use a? WinKey USB type device.? Or the simple way was to use a little 1 transistor 1 resistor keying device on the LPT line.? Do computers even have LPT ports anymore?? I don't think there is a USB to LPT port adapter.
The best bet is to retire the FT-1000 and get a more modern radio!? The FT-1000 was a CW key clicks machine anyway.? I was glad to see them GO!? You can get great rigs on the used market and even get a brand new IC-7300 for less than a thousand bucks.

My yagi is stuck on Europe and the Alpha's HV Filter board fried at the 
start of ARRL 160 Saturday afternoon. Spark, Sizzle, Smoke, Smell, Stinky!
If someone does a Mult-Op I maybe, kinda, sort of, can put in few hours.

Hi,

I have created a new group with Groups.io for us and submitted for approval.
The base plan is free.  If and when it gets approved I will send out
instructions on how to join.   The free plan does not allow the owner to add
members, so it will up to each of you to sign up if you wish to continue to
receive CVCC emails. I currently have it set up that the group name will
show in the groups.io directory, but membership is restricted and all
messages will be private. They say approvals are generally approved by the
next day.
