The spirit of W4MYA was guest operator of my station this morning.? In the CW OPS CWO contest the "Dude" made 66 contacts in a bit over an hour.? The exchange was "serial number / name" which of course was Dude.? Each contact was ended with "TU <name> run em W4PM".
Had the real Dude been here AT LEAST 25% more QSO's would have been made in the same time period.
I really miss the "Dude".

The event was a great success thanks to leadership of W4DR and the hard work of all the members and wives who obtained and provided the goodies, help set up, serve, clean up, etc.? Sheila's picture presentation was first rate!? A big thanks to Dennis for securing the venue.? I was very pleased that members of Bob's family attended as well as Bob's friends from the local area and PVRC members from Northern Virginia and Tidewater.? Bob was well respected and well liked, even loved, in the Amateur Radio Community as well as the Goochland non-ham community as was pointed out by his neighbor Barry.? Thanks to all those who shared their memories of their association with Bob over the years.? This was a great send off for our friend.? While Bob has passed on from this life he will live on in the fond memories of his family and friends and the thousands of ham radio operators all around the world whose life he had touched in one way or another.?

Nancy, Bob's sister called me.? I told her about the brick and she was very happy about that..? She and Bob's other sister Mary Ellen wants to pay for the brick.? I told her we had it covered but she would? not hear of it.She and the family are so very pleased and appreciative of what the club did for Bob by holding the Celebration of Life event in his honor and wants to do something!? I was not about to argue with her who funds? the cost of the brick and gave here Milt's name and address and told her if she wanted to write a check make it payable to CVCC. ? I checked out the IC-756 Pro III today.? It only required a bit of cleaning and works great.? Really a nice radio.? It has almost every bell and whistle anyone could want.? The problem is even though it was a $2,700 radio when new, things have advanced and the new IC-730O HDR touch screen radio can be bought today for under $1,000!? A nice toy but I still think the Pro III is a better radio and if I had the? bucks and needed another radio I would go for the Pro III.
Anyhow, I am taking pictures and listing it on Ebay with a starting minimum bid of $1,000. If any of you would like it for that price speak now and come get it.??
