Hi!

Hope summer is going well for everyone.  Had a voicemail on my phone from a
dad whose 13 year old son recently passed his Tech exam.  They were checking
out the websites for the Richmond clubs and found that our meeting night was
the only one that fit their schedule.  I returned the call but got voicemail
as well so left a message.  As we have been generally taking the summer off
for meetings (and yes we been taking a lot of meetings opportunities off
over the last year), shall we definitely plan for a September if they are
still interested?  While we don't participate in VHF/UHF contesting, this
might be a great opportunity to introduce HF.

What say fellow CVCC'ers?

Upcoming this year are the 160 and 10 meter contests.? 10 meters is SSB as well as CW so no reason we can't get 10 logs in that one!Sadly we will not have W4MYA to lead us so we need to try a bit harder.? Lets win one for the "DUDE".? Hopefully we will have a MULTI-OP from W4HZ on 160 and maybe on 10 but we need ops to fill the chair and keep the station humming!? Anyone else with a decent antenna and some smoke might consider a small multi-op too! ? The longer the station is on the more points are generated.? Remember as BOB, W4MYA said "run'em" !

Plan to come to Vinny's at 7 pm for our usual eat and meet.  We have a few
items to discuss.  I also expect we will have two visitors, father and son -
Tom and Ian Chadwick.  Ian is 13 and recently passed his Tech license.  He's
working to upgrade and learn CW and is expressing an interest in DXing and
contesting.  Be thinking about some times when we might be able to offer him
some opportunities to visit and learn.

i dont think i am a member anymore Bob, i would like to be but my check 
came back uncashed saying something about my renewal wasnt welcome.

on a good note though I did put up some decent antennas, a Mosley Pro67c 
and a 6 M and 2 2M M2's @ 115ft.

finally surpassed 305 confirmed thru LOTW.

I talked with Bob's neighbor Barry.? Bob's remains were cremated at Norman Funeral Home in Goochland.? I called both Bob's home and cell numbers (I understand Eric is using Bob's cell) but got no answers.? I left messages.? I called Billy Norman from the funeral home.? Bob's ashes are still there, not yet picked up by the family. ? No obituary was published because the family was not sure what they were going to do!? Mr. Norman and also Barry said that there was some thought about someone climbing up a ham? radio tower and scattering his ashes to the wind.? If that is so are there any volunteers.? If so done there should be some sort of SHORT memorial service at that time, at least that's my thoughts.?
That's all I know.? I hope to see you all tomorrow 09/01 2018.
